The digital divide was exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which moved much of the legal system online. In response, Legal Kiosk programs were implemented in several states to provide a confidential environment for people to attend remote court hearings, apply for legal services, access legal resources, and print documents. To assist legal services organizations considering and planning a Legal Kiosk program, A2J Tech recently launched a Legal Kiosk Toolkit. This session includes an overview of each section of the toolkit along with commentary from the leaders of kiosk projects in Massachusetts, Minnesota and Texas. Attendees will also learn about a new TIG project to implement software enhancements and self-help action plans on Legal Kiosks. There will also be a brief demo of the Legal Kiosk experience and time for Q&A.
